Australian filmfest to host ‘Are You Volleyball?!’

Iranian short flick ‘Are You Volleyball?!’ has been set to go on screen at the 2019 Canb Short Film Festival in Australia.

Directed by Mohammad Bakhshi, ‘Are You Volleyball?!’ which is one of the most acclaimed Iranian shorts will be screened at the Australian film event.

The 15-minute short presents a group of Arabic-speaking asylum seekers who try to make their way to the border in an English speaking country, but they can’t keep going.

They get into a conflict with border guards every day until a deaf-mute child becomes a catalyst for better communication between the two sides.

Besides screening a number of Iranian short flicks such as ‘White Season’ directed by Hassan Najmabadi, ‘You’re Still Here’ by Katayoun Parmar, as well as Mohammad Nourbakhsh and Shoura Shayesteh’s ‘Like the Wave’, the festival has also devoted a program to Iranian cinema which is titled Iranian Night.

The latest edition of the Canb Short Film Festival is slated for September 7-22, 2019.
